Profile – Sheila Williams (2022)
I have been involved in Floral Art and Horticultural Shows through my family literally since I was in my pram. By the age of 4 I was a regular competitor and I have continued to love the atmosphere of a Show for the rest of my life. I never cease to be thrilled by the creativity and enthusiasm shown by competitors, and as a Judge I can only hope to encourage this.
I have been a qualified Judge since 1993 and have developed my skills through attending Refresher Courses, National Shows and Area Shows in BB&O and other Areas of NAFAS.
Following my time as Secretary and then Chairman of my local Club, I have served as the Area Media Officer for BB&O, and subsequently became the NAFAS National Media Officer for a period of 3 years. I have assisted in the design and organisation of a number of Area Flower Festivals and Shows, and have served as the Berkshire Rep on the F&GP Committee. Currently I am the Area Judging Representative, and I have been the Area Flower Arranger Magazine Officer since 2008.
Flower arranging has brought me great fun and friendship over the years. The chance to be involved in a large Flower Festival, to appreciate stunning innovative designs on a showbench, or to have the skills to arrange the flowers in Church for a friend’s wedding have all come from my membership of NAFAS. I have been very fortunate to have such a great organisation as part of my life.
