‘Foam Free Autumn Pedestal’ Workshop: Friday 27 September 2024

This workshop is a must for anyone wishing to learn more, and practice their skills, in producing a stunning pedestal without using floral foam. It is suitable for all skill levels and particularly for those preparing church pedestals. It will be led by Sandie Draper, one of our experienced Area Teachers. Places are limited so early booking is recommended.  It will be held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Wexham, SL3 6LH on 27 September  10.30am to 3pm.

Cost of the workshop is £30 per pedestal, which can be done by one or two people. Only one booking required per pedestal.  Tea/coffee will be provided but please bring your own lunch.  More details to be sent once booking has been placed. Area AGM: Friday 25 October 2024

Once again the Area AGM will be held in October so that those staying for the afternoon entertainment will be able to drive home in daylight.

The AGM will run 10.30-12.00. Afterwards there will be a lunch and afternoon entertainment open to anyone. Lunch will be waitress served with a choice of 2 main courses: Poached salmon or Mediterranean Tart, with bowls of salads and hot potatoes on each table. Then there will be a choice of 2 desserts: Trio of desserts or Fresh Fruit Salad, followed by coffee and mints.  The afternoon entertainment will be a demonstration entitled ‘Oxford Fact Fiction Fun’ by Past Area President Anna Steven. Cost will be £35 for lunch AND entertainment OR £10 for the entertainment only.  To make a booking click on 2024 AGM Booking Form.

Reports from Area Officers will be circulated to clubs one week before the event.  In the meantime, please think about some special area awards and email chairman@bbandoflowers.org.uk with your nominations by 30th September.

  • The Diane Gill Glass Bowl is for the most innovative contemporary design.  A photo should be included with the nomination.
  • The Penelope Everett Bowl is for an individual or team who has gone above and beyond to support the area or their club.  A short citation should be included with the nomination.

To be eligible for the Heather Barber Charity Rose Bowl clubs should complete a Charity Donations Form by 30th September.

‘Christmas Wreath Workshops’: Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November 

The first Christmas Wreath Workshop will take place in the evening 7.00 – for 7.30 until 9.30pm on Friday 29th November at  Amersham Bandhall, Rectory Meadow, Amersham HP7 0BU. Cost will be £35 with all materials provided plus tea/coffee and a mince pie. This workshop will be tutored by Area teacher Jackie Page. The Second Christmas Wreath Workshop will take place during the day 11.00 to 3.30pm on Saturday 30th November at St John’s Church Centre, Church Road, Woodley, Reading, RG5 4QN. There is plenty of parking in front of the hall. Cost will be £35 with all materials plus tea/coffee provided, but please BYO lunch. This workshop will be tutored by Area teacher Carol Bennett. Payment by online transfer is much preferred. With so many local banks closing it is very onerous for our Area Treasurer to travel miles to pay in cheques, but if you really cannot pay any other way then cheques will be accepted.

Area Demonstrators Tests: Saturday 22 February  and Saturday 5 April 2025

Mock tests for our trainee area demonstrators will be held 22 February. time tba at Holyport Memorial Hall, Moneyrow Green, Holyport, Maidenhead. SL6 2NA.

Final tests for area trainee demonstrators at the same location on 5 April.

Competition Training Workshop: 22 March 2025

A workshop to help people take part in competitions will be held 10.30-3.30pm on March at Benson Parish Hall.  More details to follow.
