Education is a key activity within NAFAS and the BB&O Area.
Under normal circumstances there are area and club workshops, but during the current COVID crisis most of these practical learning opportunities have been limited. In the meantime BB&O organised ‘Zooming through Winter‘ and ‘Zooming into Spring‘ programme of FREE workshops. The follow-up events in the ‘Keep calm and keep Zooming‘ programme and ‘Zooming out of Lockdown ‘ include free talks for area members and incur a £3 charge for workshops and demonstrations. Members can apply using the April/May Area Online Events Booking Form and Zooming out of Lockdown Area Online Events Booking Form. Non-BB&O members may apply for a place on workshops and demonstrations for a fee of £5. See Online Events for more details.
NAFAS produces a host of books and educational handbooks which can be ordered via the NAFAS On-line Shop
Other Learning opportunities gives details of local learning establishments and recorded tutorials, although please note that the situation regarding all such learning opportunities is dependent on government COVID guidelines.
Would you like to improve your basic teaching skills?
BB&O have some money donated by recently closed clubs to be used for educational purposes. This is likely to be used to run a course to help club members, demonstrators etc improve their teaching skills. If you are interested please download Basic Teaching Course Letter 2021-05-14
NAFAS /OCN Online Teacher Training Course
NAFAS also provides courses for teacher training. In view of the current pandemic and difficulty in accessing a venue, the course is currently being run very effectively on line.
Please note that a qualification from this course will only allow you to teach NAFAS courses. If you would like further information please click on Irene Manson to email her. Irene is a national teacher.
