Flower Festival at Dorchester Abbey: 28-30 Sep 2018

A spectacular flower festival depicting journeys of various kinds, including many relevant to the history of Dorchester Abbey.

Proceeds from the festival will be shared between Dorchester Abbey and Footsteps Foundation, which is a Dorchester based charity aiming to improve the lives of children with neurological disorders.

Dorchester-on-Thames  is a charming historic village, nine miles south of Oxford.  Refreshment establishments in the village include: George Hotel,   Fleur de Lys Hotel,   White Hart Hotel,   Lily’s Tea Room,   Dorchester Abbey Tea Room

Preview Evening Thu 27 Sep, 7-9pm

On Thursday 27 September there will be a special preview evening with musical accompaniment.  Tickets cost £15 and include canapes and complimentary drink.  Tickets can be ordered using the downloadable Dorchester Preview Order Form

To make the festival a success we need help from BB&O members to act as stewards.  If you can help on staging days (Wed 26 and Thu 27 Sep) and/or public viewing days (28-30 Sep) please download and use the following files to register your availability.

Childrens Footprint Competition

Part of the festival will include a constructed tree on which decorated footprints will be hung.  This is a competition for children in age groups: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.   It will be judged by the flower festival design team and there will be a prize for the winner in each group.

Download the image from Dorchester Footprint Competition , then cut around the foot shape and decorate with dried or drawn flowers, leaves, seedheads etc.  Attach a piece of ribbon through a hole in the heel end of the foot, and don’t forget to put your name, age and contact details on the back.

To submit a design:
• Bring to BB&O Area Council Meeting on 3rd September OR

Closing date is 20th September.

The footsteps will be displayed in the Abbey throughout the flower festival.
They may be collected (if required) at the end of the festival on Sunday 30th Sept.
